Tremblant Ski Terrain

Tremblant has a good variety of terrain for all skiers......

Slopes.....

A heated gondola from the village takes you to the top of the so-called South Side (really south-west facing and so good for the afternoon sun). From here you can drop over the back onto the North Side (which is really north-east facing and gets the morning sun). A high-speed quad brings you back and there are two other chairs to play on here plus the Edge lift which accesses another summit, serving mainly expert terrain.

On the South Side you can go right back to town on blue or green runs, or use two high-speed quads to explore the top and bottom halves. The Versant Soleil area is more directly south-facing and has mainly black and tree runs with one top-to-bottom blue. Free mountain tours go twice daily.

Fast lifts

Most of the lifts are fast.

Line Ups.....

On weekends there can be queues, but they tend to move quickly.

Terrain parks....

On the South Side is the 30-acre Adrenaline park and half-pipe for advanced riders. There’s a beginner park on the North Side. Helmets are compulsory in both parks. The school offers freestyle classes.

Experts....

Half the runs are classified black, but we found many of them did not deserve their grading. There are steep, top-to-bottom bump runs on the North Side and great gladed tree runs off the Edge lift. The Versant Soleil area has more black runs and some tough runs in the trees.

Intermediates....

Both North and South Sides have good cruising, and we found the North Side less crowded. There are blue runs in the trees as well as on groomed trails.

Beginners....

The 2-acre beginner area is excellent, and there are long, easy, top-to-bottom greens to progress to. There are plans to open up the Versant Soleil to beginners with a new green piste.

Snowboarding....

The slopes are good for beginners, but better boarders can’t count on fresh natural snow to play in. A specialist shop, Adrénaline, runs a Burton learn-to-ride programme. And there are good terrain parks.

Cross-country....

There are around 65 km of trails, some at the top of the mountain, with great views.
Families

The Kids’ Club... offers day care from ages one to six years. There’s a children’s adventure area on the Nansen trail.

The Tremblant Story

On the shores of Lake Tremblant, just outside the Village of Mont Tremblant in the Quebec Laurentians, is the Resort of Tremblant by Intrawest. The mountain, with the Pedestrian Village at its base and Condominiums dotting the hillside, provides an impressive sight for visitors and ski season is an ideal time to experience all the fun this winter wonderland has to offer. There are so many types of accommodations, restaurants, shops and activities to experience that every member of the family and every type of family is sure to find everything to meet their needs.

Accommodation of all kinds can by booked at great prices through
Tremblant VIP Lodging
.

Village entertainment has a tradition of warmth and excitement with an unmistakable French-Canadian joie de vivre. Street clowns and musicians surprise and delight. Irresistible boutiques, movie theatres and sizzling nightlife add to the magic that is Tremblant.

There is a sense of élan about the French, oui? And here at Tremblant you will discover all the flavors of Europe along with some of the most magnificent ski terrain in eastern Canada. The highest peak in the Laurentians at 3,001 feet, Tremblant will tempt you with over 2,000 feet of vertical including 121 acres of the best tree skiing anywhere.

Skiing and snowboarding are the main activities during the winter with plenty of options on how best to enjoy the 92 trails over 610 acres of skiable terrain serviced by 13 lifts.
The Adventure Centre, located in Sommet des Neiges and accessible from Place St. Bernard is where visitors go to begin their exploration of Mont Tremblant. This one stop shop at the base of the mountain is were lift tickets, rentals, and lessons can all be arranged and it's where our family's exploration of this winter wonderland began.

The Snow School Bell, one of the meeting places for lessons is right outside the Centre.

Lift and lesson tickets kids can be dropped off at their group lesson for a day of skiing fun - including lunch in a special heated tent. Depending on the age of children, group lessons meet at the Kidz Club magic carpet, the Tent at the new "Equilibre" beginner area, Snow School Bell or Snowboard Shack. The Program schedule details meeting areas for lessons, but it doesn't hurt to check ahead of time to confirm where the kids are to meet their instructors One day group lessons for children 3 to 12 years of age are offered daily and include lunch. On weekends half day lessons are also available in the afternoon. The 2000-2001 winter season saw over 7,500 kids enjoy group lessons at the Kidz Club. Whow!! They must be doing something right.

Then it was time for us to head off and sample some of the 46.6 miles of trails on Mont Tremblant. Info-ski guides are available for a free one-hour tour of the mountain but we decided to head off on our own until 3:00 pm when we had to be back to pick up the kids.

Locals recommend that you ski or snowboard on the North Side in the morning. We assumed that this was because most visitors ski the south side first so the North Side is not as busy in the morning and subsequently the South Side is not as busy in the afternoon.

The North Side also features the Gravity Park. Designed for Experts, this area combines a Super Halfpipe, Quarter Pipe, Rollers, Tabletops, Spines, Backturns and Two Rail sections. The Mini Gravity Park nearby is where beginners get a chance to practice their skills.

If you are planning to bring along a non-skier aged 1 to 6 years, Mother Nature Daycare Camp offers a safe, supervised facility. Pagers are available for added peace of mind while parents are on the slopes or partaking a lesson.
When it comes time to satisfy a hungry family, there are more than 35 on-site restaurants to choose from. Here's what we sampled:
• The buffet dinner served at Windigos in The Fairmont Tremblant provided plenty of choices to suit even my fussy 8 year old's tastes.
• Pizzateria for lunch gave us a variety of choices for some interesting pizza combinations. Mozzarella Pizza or Spaghettini is offered as children's menu items.
• Casey's, in the Marriott Residence Inn has typical roadhouse fare. We did a family favorite of choosing a few appetizers and sharing them.

If you are looking for some après ski fun there are plenty of options also. Dogsledding, Snowmobiling, Horseback Riding, Snow Shoeing, Ice Climbing, Tubing, Sleighriding and Spa services can be booked through the Activity Centre.

Just because the snow is flying at Tremblant, you don't want to forget your bathing suits (or if you do you can always purchase one) for a visit to La Source. Go to La Source Aquaclub at Tremblant, Pools and Fitness Centre. There are also hot tubs to enjoy with other winter enthusiasts.

If shopping is one of your passions -unfortunately it is one of mine- you won't be disappointed either. From clothing to toys for girls and boys along with souvenirs and plenty of snow boarding and skiing accessories, a stroll down the main pedestrian walkway or the hotel lobbies is sure to offer something you just have to have.

With so much to do and so many trails to explore on the mountain it's no wonder so many families visit the winter wonderland of the Tremblant Resort. Then there is all the fun offered in the summer but that's another story.

Don't forget that Tremblant VIP Lodging offers its Price Guarantee - you can't go wrong.

Olympic Torch Relay - Mont Tremblant

Tremblant, the ski resort in Canada will host the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, presented by Coca-Cola and RBC and supported by the Government of Canada.

The event takes place on December 9th and brings the Olympic Torch to its much awaited stop in the Laurentians, where it will be carried by two guests of honour who contributed immensely to the ski industry.

The first guest is Peter Duncan, slalom and downhill skier, who joined the Canadian ski team at the age of 16. He has collected many honours and received, in 1969, the John Semmelink trophy, given to the athlete who best represented Canada internationally with athletic skills, his spirit of competition, his conduct and his performances. Following his career as a competitive skier, he has been highly successful behind the microphone as a skiing commentator and analyst. He will soon be seen at the Vancouver Olympics where he will comment on Alpine skiing. He has been doing this over the years with great success at many Olympic Games as well as most World Cup events. Mr. Duncan will carry the Olympic Torch as he skis down Tremblant, the mountain to which he has been very attached for years.

The other guest of honour is Peggy Austin, who is not only the daughter of Hermann Smith Johannsen, better known as JackRabbit, but also a ski champion of the ‘30s in her own right. At that time, competitors had to climb to the top of the mountain to reach the starting gate. In some cases, such as the Taschereau track where most races were held at Tremblant, this could take a several hours and the duration of the downhill race was often four minutes or more. Peggy Austin, who won numerous medals, took the gold medal at the inaugural Taschereau in 1937, placed 2nd in 1938 and came first again in 1939, the year in which Joe Ryan opened the resort where these races became part of Tremblant’s history. This lady is a legend for her ski performances, competing on skis that didn’t have steel edges and were very difficult to control.

The celebrations for the Olympic Torch Relay start at 9 a.m. on Wednesday December 9, from the Place des Voyageurs, where entertainment, jugglers and fire-eaters will also await visitors. The relay will move up the rue des Remparts to the bottom of the ski slopes where spectators can watch Peter Duncan ski down the last pitch with the torch. Peggy Austin will then take over and carry the torch to the Place St-Bernard where it will stop on the stage for the viewing pleasure of the audience and for a small presentation to the guests of honor. The Olympic Torch Relay will then move back down the rue des Remparts and then leave Tremblant site. Great time in Canada.

The Olympic Torch Relay will end in Vancouver in February 2010 where Tremblant’s own athletes, Jasey-Jay Anderson and Erik Guay are expected at the Winter Olympics.

Tremblant Resort Lodging - Visit The Spa

The Le Scandinave spa near the famous Mont-Tremblant ski resort is a freestanding spa, unrelated to any hotel .

Its most soothing quality? It's inexpensive. You can partake of the baths for $43 weekdays, $46 weekends, or $35 on ladies' day Thursdays. That's a bargain among spas and among pastimes in Mont-Tremblant, the Whistler of the east, about 90 minutes northwest of Montreal.

At Le Scandinave, the watchwords are Silence and No Cell Phones. Once you don your bathing suit and robe, go outside. Choose a "hot" experience first -- two hot pools, a Norwegian steam room, a Finnish sauna. Spend not more than 10 minutes. Then quickly cool off, either in a cold pool of 59-degree water from the adjacent Diable River, by dousing yourself with a pull-handle shower of river water, or by plunging into the river itself.

After that, sit quietly in one of five rest houses, which have wooden chairs and soft mats.

After going through the sequence three or four times, you can either finish or wander in your robe upstairs for a bite to eat, sitting at a long trestle table surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows.

I was there earlier this month, just before the snowfall . Yet even without snow, the architecture and nature complemented each other in a languid combination of Finnish-Canadian styles -- red roofs, windows lined in green and yellow, dark brown wooden buildings, blue water, blue sky, bracing air.

The baths are good for increasing circulation and eliminating toxins, spa literature says. They are also extremely romantic -- I saw several couples there -- but also comfortable for groups of friends or weary solo travelers.
When you book your lodging with Tremblant VIP Lodging make sure to include a visit to the spa .

    Why Ski in Mont-Tremblant?

Mont-Tremblant is the premier resort for four season fun and relaxation. This corner of paradise offers the spring and summer vacationer golf, water sports, horseback riding, biking, festivals and so much more for all the family to enjoy. In fall the leaves begin to change and colourfully announce the arrival of a magical and special time of year - winter!!!

As the snow begins to cover the trees and mountain tops and the lakes freeze, Mont-Tremblant changes its costume from vivid fall colors to glistening white with bright blues skies. The area abounds in winter time sports and fun - dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowshoeing and, of course, skiing!

Tremblant has been voted the number one ski resort in Eastern North America, year after year by ski publications and avid skiers. It raises a majestic 2871 feet into the air, has 94 trails, the longest being 3.75 miles and altogether there are 625.5 acres of ski able ground.

There are trails for beginners, intermediates and at least 47 trails for skiing experts. Not quite sure how to go down a slope gracefully and safely, enrol in "Snow School" where lessons are provided for small groups of adults, teens and even toddlers and babies. Private lessons are also available.

Tremblant's lift system handles 27,230 skiers per hour so there's no wasting of fun time waiting to get to the top. You can choose the Gondola for an impressive, overall view of the mountain and surrounding area, high-speed quads or magic carpets.

For the hungry skier or mountain visitor, there are many lunch spots that offer warming hot chocolate and soups, sandwiches or complete meals.

While on skis discover the mountain's long history by taking advantage of a free guided tour. Learn the origins of trail names. Seek out the prime lookouts, the sunniest trails and the little-know rest stops. The tour lasts 45 to 60 minutes and is available to skiers of all skill levels.

Be certain to sample some of the other wintertime sports and activities. For the very adventuresome there is ice climbing or riding the snowmobile. Snowshoeing is a great alternative if cross-country skiing. Sleigh rides are great for the whole family or for a romantic evening with someone special.

Due to the incredibly high number of tourists that visit Mont-Tremblant, finding the right kind of accommodation is key. Tremblant VIP Lodging has one of the best selections of accommodation in the region along with great prices.

Objective $1 million in donations for the 9th edition of the 24h of Tremblant

MONTREAL, Nov. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - There was excitement in the air as the details of the ninth edition of the now classic 24h of Tremblant were unveiled today in the presence of many well-known personalities, ambassadors and guests of honor. The 24h of Tremblant is a major happening that brings together sport, culture and philanthropy.

The organizers aim to raise more than a million dollars to donate to various charitable foundations such as the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, the Tremblant Foundation as well as the Ottawa Sens Foundation. This year's cultural program features Ariane Moffat, Kevin Parent, DJ Champion & the G-Strings, Izia, Dubmatique, Boom Desjardins, Yann Perreau and many others.

With about a month to go, alight with enthusiasm, the organizing committee appealed to the general public, to skiing and snowboarding fans and to businesses by inviting them to register and put teams together. "Our objective is to recruit 225 teams and surpass the million dollars in funds raised last year. As of now, we already have 150 teams registered, with up to $200 000 in on-line donations.

We have put together an innovative promotional fundraising campaign with known comedians; we have a recruited a new ambassador to complete the existing team; the musical program is explosive and everything is lined up for us to attain our ambitious objective.

We are very enthusiastic and are confident that, with the help of our wonderful sponsors Volkswagen & TELUS and the participants that do so much to raise money, our winter festival will be a success. Because on top of the performance, the real competition of this event is to raise as much money as possible for the sick and unprivileged children," explains Simon St-Arnaud, director of the event.
The team Les Cybèles managed to raise the largest amount of money last year with an impressive $46,842. The call is out for whoever intends to do better this year!
A cultural happening in Tremblant village.

While the mountain has skiers hurtling down its slopes, the village will be lively, as well, with the party spirit taking over for three whole days. There'll be theme stalls and a program brimming with activities and concerts indoors and out. The program will start with a big concert at the summit of the mountain with DJ Champion and many other artists. This concert will be broadcast live on the web. On Saturday night, Yann Perreau, winner of a Felix Award, will take the stage and finally, Ariane Moffat will close the event on Sunday at noon.

Kevin Parent, DJ Champion & the G-Strings, Izia & Dubmatique will see to it that more than 1500 participants and some 25,000 visitors participate in the party and contribute in their own way.

The new star of the 24h

The organizers will again be supported by perennial event ambassadors Benoit Gagnon, Philippe Fehmiu and Mélanie Turgeon, as well as by panoply of cultural and sports personalities moved to action by the cause of children. A new ambassador of the 24h of Tremblant has been added to the team this year, none other than Anne-Marie Wittenshaw.

Beneficiaries offer highly promising projects :

The Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau was created in 1990 and its mission is to build a facility where children with cancer can receive treatment and where research aimed at finding a cure for the disease can be carried out. It aims to finance the creation and development of the Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau of the CHU Sainte-Justine. The Fondation believes that children with cancer have a right to the best care and treatment available and hopes that all these children can one day say: "When I grow up, I'll be cured!" Thanks to the 24h and other fundraisers, The Tremblant Foundation annually donates over $200,000 to underprivileged children of the MRC-Laurentians region. And finally the Ottawa Sens Foundation will support more than 2,500 children and youth receiving treatment or participating in programs offered by Candlelighters, project s.t.e.p., Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Roger's House.

    Partners who get involved

The success of the 24h of Tremblant is largely attributable to the involvement of our partners. The 24h of Tremblant is powered by Volkswagen in collaboration with TELUS.

Volkswagen is proud to power the 24h of Tremblant. Again this year, its goal is to raise the greatest possible amount of money to help children through the Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau.

TELUS, which has been a partner in the 24h event for five years, has to this point donated $250,000 to the 24h of Tremblant to benefit children who are ill or in remissionl children. For the 2009 edition, all participants and spectators are invited to visit the TELUS zone and make a donation to give a night light to the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau. The little lights, personalized by drawings done by well-known Québec personalities such as Alexandre Despatie, will provide some comfort in the children's rooms.

Coca-Cola, Van Houtte, Snickers, Imprimerie L'Artographe, Columbia, Bula & Swiss International Airlines, are also proud partners in the event.
The NRJ Volskwagen walk-a-thon with Mitsou, Benoit Gagnon, Eric Salvail, Jean-François Baril, Pierre Pagé et Dominic et Martin.

The NRJ Volkswagen walk-a-thon, from Montreal to Tremblant, starts in front of the NRJ studios in Montreal on Dec.10th at noon, and ends at the bottom of the ski runs, 24 hours later. A total of 142.9 kilometres of walking! New this year: the radio announcers and hosts invite 24 teams of four listeners to join in the walk-a-thon with them. The aim is to raise $48,000. Last year, radio personalities walked the same distance for 24 hours, raising more than $18,000! For the first time this year, Volkswagen will be a partner in this walk for children and will contribute with pride to this worthy cause.

    Give generously on tremblant.ca/24h

Short clips featuring well-known comedians such as André Sauvé and Jean-Michel Anctil will be on the web to raise funds. The clip by André Sauvé is now available on the 24h website at tremblant.ca/24h.

Domaine de la Foret - Le Plateau

If you’re looking for slope-side accommodations at Tremblant, you’ll find plenty to choose from to suit your individual needs and tastes.

You might have already found your own particular favourite spot, but we encourage you to mix it up a bit. We’ve had the privilege of staying at several places around the mountain, and if we’ve learned anything, it’s that… well quite honestly, we’ve enjoyed our stay at all of them! They each offer something unique and trying something new is part of the fun too! After all, variety is the spice of life.

In this review, we’ll be featuring Le Plateau, which can be found quietly tucked away in the upper right hand corner of Tremblant’s Domaine De La Forêt.

Situated in a particularly picturesque part of the mountain, guests of Le Plateau will enjoy a more cottage like atmosphere, along with contemporary modern styling. Guests will feel more like part of a quiet community, centered around a large pond perfect for skating on during the winter, as well as an outdoor pool for the summer.

We were particularly impressed at how well the area was maintained. After a large snowfall during the night, staff worked during the day to clear the pond, and by the evening, families where already out skating again with their children. The skating pond is also well lit at night.

Le Plateau offers deluxe condos that range from studios to 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedroom units (the one photographed below is a 2 bedroom condo). They offer a long list of comforts, which include:
    • Large fireplaces,
    • Fully equipped kitchens,
    • TV/VCR’s,
    • Wireless internet access (high speed!),
    • Washer/dryer,
    • Private deck,
    • Parking (with power outlets for block heaters),
    • Tremblant’s Merchant discount booklet,
    • Certificate for 1 free day of access (per registered guest) to Tremblant’s Aquaclub La Source in the Resort Village.
    • Includes first tracks and evening activities.
    • Outdoor equipment locker.

Inside, you’ll find comfortably spacious living & dining areas that are both warm and inviting. The layout is perfect for entertaining friends, and fire logs are provided if you’d like to retire in front of a warm fireplace.

Of particular interest, is the heated kitchen floor that makes cooking a joy after a long day on the mountain (which also doubles as a great place to park your boots, so they’re warm and toasty when you head out in the morning!). Bedrooms are tastefully furnished and the master bedroom pictured below also had its own large en-suite bath & jacuzzi.

Getting to and from the mountain is made easy through a variety of options, most convenient of which, is a beautiful trail that runs through the area directly down to the P2 chair lift. The trail runs under the main roadway, so it’s safe for the kids because they won’t have to cross any roads (as do many of the other accommodations at Tremblant too).

There’s also a shuttle service that runs both ways, which will pick you up within a few minutes of a phone call on weekdays, and frequently scheduled pick-up times on the weekend.

For those of you who enjoy walking (we should point out there are also some great hiking trails nearby in Parc National du Mont-Tremblant), the Resort Village is only about a 10 minute walk away if you’d like to park the car for an evening out.

All things considered, we highly recommend Tremblant’s Le Plateau to families and couples looking for a slope-side, cozy cottage-like atmosphere!

A European Skier's- View of Mont Tremblant

This is written for the European skier whom is thinking of having their first holiday in Mont-Tremblant.

If you have not been to Mont Tremblant in Quebec for a ski holiday before then you could be tempted into a package holiday where your accommodation choice will be made for you and your transfer from Montreal airport is organized.

Last year my family and I went a very well know U.K. based ski operator to Mont Tremblant. The flights were with Thomas Cooke and were adequate, Gatwick to Montreal is long enough with two children but not unbearable. We wanted to go to Canada as we had a lucky escape two years ago when it failed to snow in the French Alps and only just managed some snow the night of our arrival. Not wanting to spend our ski-holiday money and watch muddy mountains with European queues for the top lifts we thought Quebec would be great. We were right! Snow up to your eyeballs!

The transfer from the airport took place after clearing Customs. We had to wait for another flight to arrive before we were headed into a freezing cold mid-sized bus in uncomfortable seats with our luggage on our laps.

We were dropped off at our hotel, lugged our suitcases across the snow and queued up to be given room keys and do the check-in procedure when we really wanted to eat. We got our double room for 2 adults and 2 children and we were surprised how small it was. For 10 days we lived on each other’s laps eating out each night.

At the end of the holiday, the tour rep whom we hadn’t seen at all for the whole stay, picked us up in the same bus and took us back to the airport about 4 hrs before our flight took off.

Mont Tremblant is a fabulous destination to visit and the skiing is utterly brilliant.

Having done it once, I have learnt how to make the whole experience far more rewarding and less stressful. If you book your flights you can get some excellent prices from www.canadianaffair.com but book ahead.

Then as car hire is relatively cheap in Canada just book a medium sized car from the airport for a week. The roads are straight, the snow is not a problem as the cars have snow tires and unlike the Alps you are not navigating hair-pin bends with sheer drops either side. If you book our condo then having the car means you can drive right into Versant Soleil and park the car in the dry, well lit basement car park of Étoile du Matin and climb a short staircase to your front door in the warm and dry.

To me having a hire car means:-

    · virtually an extra day’s skiing

    · hire cost saved by being able to substitute 2 or 3 meals out with some home cooking for a family of 4 (especially useful at lunch time).

    · comfort going to and from the airport and on your own schedule

    · a chance to see some of the region in the event you do not want to ski every single hour

Importantly, having a car also means you can get to the supermarket and not be committed to eating within the Resort every night. Quebec is the home to fantastic cuisine and no trip is complete without exploring.

As to why you would stay in a resort centre hotel for the prices they charge, I am not sure? You should try Tremblant VIP Lodging. They had great prices and an excellent choice of accommodation. Stay in Domaine de la Foret and you can enjoy some privacy as well as great views of the mountain and enjoy real “ski in - ski out” accommodation without scrambling up and down the village centre.

    Casino du Mont Tremblant

Casino du Mont Tremblant is located on Versant Soleil at the Mont Tremblant Resort and is connected to main Pedestrian Village by a new high speed gondola.

A 125-seat bar with lively animation - private lounge with a large High-Limits section are at your disposal.

The Casino du Mont Tremblant is situated on 4 floors – approximate capacity 1,100 people

One major section of the Mont Tremblant Casino is reserved for High-Limits Games and proportionally this section will be twice as large as any other casino in Quebec.

The casino will offer a new type of entertainment designed especially for tourists who frequent Mont-Tremblant.

Perfectly integrated in the hotel resort complex, the Casino de Mont-Tremblant will be another attraction for thousands of tourists, resort vacationers and leisure travellers.

    Tremblant - A Visitors View

Tremblant – Award Winning 4 Seasons Resort

In the notoriously fickle realm of popularity, a year can be a lifetime. Which is why it is positively astounding that for the past 12 years a single resort - Quebec's Mont Tremblant - has been rated No. 1 overall in Eastern North America by the readers of Ski Magazine.

Tremblant garnered top honors again for 2008-09 in the individual categories of lodging, on-mountain food, dining and service.

The pristine European-style base village glistened hospitably in the foreground, while above and beyond, the highest peak in the Laurentians seemed to tremble under the tractored feet of monstrous, bug-eyed grooming equipment.

    HITTING THE SLOPES....

The summit itself seemed disconcertingly crowded, but with half the skiers going down the north side and half going down the more trail-populated south side, we were pleased to see how quickly it thinned out.

And so it was all three days: We never waited more than five minutes anywhere.

The next day dawned crystal clear and we explored the lower slopes. This Canadian-style cold makes many Americans tremble at the thought of Tremblant, but it also just about guarantees snow cover from December all the way through March.

    APRES-SKI....

After a pan-fried steak dinner the first evening, we strolled over to Lac Miroir to catch the curling, that night's featured family activities - including toboggan pull races and a marshmallow roast.

Back in Tremblant's trademark pedestrian village, our two took a dozen exhilarating runs down a miniature ice chute before capping off the evening with hot beavertails, flat fried dough topped with cinnamon or maple paste.

On the second night we soaked up liquid warmth in the glassed-in water park called Le Source. After that we entered into its celebrated après-ski venues and retail shops, all remarkably uncrowned.

Our final day, we skied as a family and had the kind of day that all ski vacation days are supposed to be like, with the kids demonstrating their new skills and all of us now knowing our way around.

But it's not the mountain that discriminating skiers rave about year after year; it's that truly incomparable shining city at the bottom. With two more base village properties under construction, its clear Tremblant is perfectly capable of overfeeding the goose that already laid a dozen golden eggs.
